Liberty Porter is about to move, but she's not moving to just any old house. Oh no! This nine year old girl is moving into the White House because her dad has just been inaugurated as the new president of the United States.

That makes Liberty the First Daughter, but she's a little worried that she won't be able to live up to the task or handle all the public scrutiny that goes along with being the president's daughter. Also, now every move she makes will also be shadowed by the Secret Service. Ugh, that doesn't sound like fun!

This delightful novel for children eight and older follows Liberty as she adjusts to her new surroundings. You'll also discover how the little girl and her dog Franklin make life in the White House much more exciting than it ever was with the previous inhabitants.

Explaining to a staff member why he and his wife named their daughter Liberty, the president says, Liberty means the right to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing. We encourage Liberty to act, believe, and express herself as a First Daughter in her own original and creative way.

As his Liberty pushes the limits and gets into some interesting predicaments, hopefully her father won't regret those words!
