Death Knight is a violent, bloody tale set in the World of Warcraft universe. Dan Jolley's story is gory enough, but it is Rocio Zucchi's art that really brings the war to life.

Thessarian is a farm lad, living with his mother and sister, when he is called to serve in the Lich King's army. He is quickly turned into a Death Knight and forced to make the ultimate sacrifice without having full use of his faculties. When he gains enough hold of his true self, he deserts and joins the Alliance to seek revenge against the Lich King.

For a one-shot, this manga has two distinct parts – Thessarian's time serving the Lich King and his time serving the Alliance. This makes for a rather interesting and unexpected read. However, for a tale focusing on one solitary character, Death Knight seems more about the fighting than character development. This may simply be because Zucchi excels at battle sequences; these are truly what stand out the most in Death Knight.

For fans of the death knight class in the World of Warcraft games, Death Knight will prove an entertaining and enlightening read. For non-fans, however, it feels like many other war-based graphic novels.
