This colorful padded board book introduces children to not only the alphabet but also to the wonderful world of baby animals. You'll begin with 'A is for angelfish' and work your way through butterfly, goat, kangaroo, raccoon, and urchin before you reaching 'Z is for Zebra'.

Each page offers a collection of photos and cartoon images of the featured animal baby plus a short paragraph about the animal. For example, you'll learn that baby hamsters are called pups and are originally from the Middle East. Also, 'Hamsters are cute, furry pets that like to sleep all day and play at night. They can store a lot of food in their large cheek pouches.'

As you read this book with your child, also work on beginning letter sounds and see what other animals you can think of that begin with the same letter. (Lots of luck with 'Z' and 'X'!)

A trip to the zoo, pet store or a petting zoo might also be in order, so that your child can view some baby animals up close and personal. As you look at these pictures, you might ask your child to identify animal body parts (eyes, wings, tails, legs) or colors.

The recommended age level for Baby Animals is nine months of age and older. The book also supports the new Baby Einstein DVD release, World Animals.
