In Dead Guy Spy, David Lubar continues the gruesome adventures of Nathan Abercrombie, Accidental Zombie that started in My Rotten Life. When his friend Abigail (a secret genius) offered her neurobiologist Uncle Zardo's emotion killer to help Nathan deal with rejection, the experiment turned him into a zombie instead.

The Dead Guy Spy fun begins as Nathan and his friend Mookie are followed on their way to school - by a blue bush (with a man inside it). Next comes a squirrel-cam focused on their classroom. And why are exploding robots spying on Nathan? Has someone discovered his secret? He has to protect his identity if he ever wants to succeed in his plan to become a zombie superhero!

In between listening to Mookie's zombie groaners, Nathan is recruited by a man from BUM (Bureau of Useful Misadventures) who gives him a bagel cell-phone and tells him his organization is 'here to help the free world.' They also offer to fix his brittle bone problem. But Abigail is suspicious, announcing 'It's time to spy on the spies.' Are they really good guys or bad guys?

In the meantime their gym teacher decides to promote wrestling and Nathan ('the breakaway boy') is his star. How will he survive without losing body parts? You'll have to read Dead Guy Spy to find out, but the answer is both funny and very yucky, just like the rest of the story.
