John Abbott Nez first dazzles readers with exquisite artistry on the cover and within the book, then complements with equally powerful narration as well. What a well-written book is Cromwell Dixon's Sky-Cycle! Author John Abbot Nez certainly has a gift for weaving factual information into an enthralling story.

Cromwell Dixon's Sky-Cycle tells the true story of fourteen year old Cromwell Dixon, 'a born inventor.' The story begins in the Dixon's barn in Columbus, Ohio in 1907. All sorts of newfangled flying machines were being designed in those years, and Cromwell was dreaming of them, too. After months of effort, he designed a flying machine powered by his bicycle. But, would it fly?

With his Mom supporting him every step of the way, Cromwell does it: he builds his flying machine! But, when disaster strikes, will he keep on pursuing his dream? Does he have the fortitude and determination to continue? Well, we know he did, and what a thrilling account of his success this book is. It's an amazing story captured and gift-wrapped with lush illustrations for young readers. Well done, Mr. Nez.
