Life is idyllic for Tess, who lives, and works as a chiropracter, in a picturesque seaside town in Suffolk, England. She and her husband Mick are close friends with Lennie and Alex. Tess is still breastfeeding her fourth child, Livvy, and is happy with her family and her life. One October evening, Lennie - who 'has everything going for her. Beauty, talent, kindness' - is viciously murdered.

We watch Tess go about her daily life as it slowly fractures around her, from the stress of what has happened to her best friend. She feels a growing attraction to victim support detective Lacey, and an increasing distance from her husband Mick and her old friend Alex. Her children are affected by the growing tension. There are suspicions about the murderer, which never fully materialize.

Something Might Happen is a sensitively written story of psychological suspense and even horror, much of it unresolved. It escalates into another unforeseen tragedy, that once again changes the course of Tess's life.
