Mallory Hayden works hard as head writer for her popular daytime soap opera Likely Story. The show is for real teens and she spends more time seeing that it remains that way than coming up with plots.

With her soap opera diva mother in one of the starring roles and her mother's fiancé as executive producer, Mallory has all she can do to keep the show from slipping into a sexy, preposterous melodrama. She must be doing something right. The show's been nominated for three daytime Emmys.

Mallory juggles reactions to a website that sprang up to discredit her and the show, her constant bickering with her mother, a sweet boyfriend, and her feelings for the show's hot young star. If she misses gym again, none of it will matter because the class is a high school requirement that could keep her from working.

Mallory is a tough, over-the-top teen who just happens to write a TV show. Despite her toughness, she is also vulnerable and sensitive which she manages to hide from almost everyone she knows. I was hooked with the first book of the Likely Story series.
