Nick Ward's active illustrations of the story's busy - and very hungry - little trolls enhance its humor. It all begins with 'Three little trolls, / Oink, Boink and Moink, / Hunting for a baby for the Baby Pie.' They head out on a baby hunt through the dark streets of their neighborhood to the rollicking refrain, 'Can you sniff it? / Can you whiff it? / Lick lips, pat belly, my oh my.' As they creep through the house, the suspense builds. Poor little baby, we worry! Those ugly, famished little trolls are getting awfully close! Then we hit the 'BUT!!' ... I'm not telling; read it yourself and chortle over the antics of these 'Shrieking and squawking' trolls. Baby Pie is delicious fun!
