is an account of Lou and Toby Maytree: how they met, married, separated and then came together again. Surrounded by unusual friends and a landscape wondrously described, Lou and Toby marvel at each other, the tides and the stars.
heir life is simple yet underscored with knowledge both practical and poetic. When all is said and done, if we are lucky, we are left with love and beauty. Lou and Toby were lucky. And Annie Dillard has written a work for us to reflect on and admire.
