This richly pictured and easily readable tome covers the six types of comedy or comedians (The Knockabouts; Satire and Parody; Smart-Alecks and Wiseguys; Nerds, Jerks, Oddballs, and Slackers; Breadwinners and Homemakers; and The Groundbreakers) found in America. Under each category, various comedians or TV shows that use that type of comedy are covered in just the right amount – not too much that it becomes a bear to read a chapter, but enough to really get a feel for the person or program. Even though this is the companion to the PBS series of the same name, it stands well on its own. Make 'Em Laugh is the type of book both you and your guests can enjoy at any time.
