hat's not to adore about the mischievous barnyard ringleader, Duck, who has quacked his way into the hearts of children in the lovable series of books by the talented Cronin/Lewin team?
uck, Farmer Brown, and all of the other barnyard characters first made their appearance in
Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type
. Now, Duck is back in another misadventure, trying to drive poor Farmer Brown to the nuthouse.
armer Brown is excitedly preparing for the annual Corn Maze Festival. His goal (which, of course, will be thwarted by Duck) is to create a Statue of Liberty corn maze. He plots and plans and sketches the perfect maze. By bribing the unwilling animals with the use of hammers and paintbrushes he enlists their help, even Duck's.
nbeknownst to Farmer Brown, Duck has been sneaking into the corn maze each night (using night vision goggles and other sneaky supplies), putting his own personal touch on the maze. It is only when Farmer Brown and Duck take a hot air balloon ride on the day of the festival that they (and the readers) see the maze for the first time ...
uck's victory over Farmer Brown will delight young audiences. Adding to the hilarity is a team of meteorologist mice, whose weather predictions are sprinkled throughout the book.
Thump, Quack, Moo
is another winner by this popular author/illustrator team.
